Kevin Williams chosen as new permanent director of DPS
by Jill Aho | Senior News Editor
The University announced Thursday it has selected a new head for the Department of Public Safety.
Kevin Williams, who currently works for the Lane County Sheriff's Office will begin work Aug. 31, according to a press release. DPS has been without a permanent director for more than four years.
Williams worked as a police officer in Los Angeles for 20 years and has been with Lane County for two years. Williams is responsible for bringing Tasers into the Lane County jail and is in favor of arming DPS officers with Tasers. He also said he would support turning DPS into a full-blown police department.
As director, Williams will be in charge of 70 people and parking services on campus. During his visit to campus in July, he expressed that he has ideas to alleviate parking pressures at the University.
Williams said his family has acclimated to Eugene life and declared a love for Duck football.

I cannot agree with the above comment more. Bye Bye Richard you are a worthless individual. From yelling at the office staff and a pregnant woman, to your blatant disregard for ethics and professionalism you truly appall me. (Continued…)

Looking forward to Kevin Williams being in charge. The DPS is long overdue for a real leader. Richard Turkey Leftovers should have been put out to pasture a long time ago. (Continued…)

Change is good and it is especially good to see Richard on his way out. Knowing that Richard will not be coming back is a fantastic feeling and believe me when I say it is not just a few people who want him out. (Continued…)

So this guy is making over $11G a month and all he and that other idiot can come up with to fix parking on campus is some robotic parking thing that has a record of dropping cars? How do I get a refund on my tuition? That is an obscene amount of money to be paying one guy who essentially boils down to being a temporary employee. (Continued…)

I think what really is sad here is Richard could have been a hero, a leader, a true leader, someone who made a difference by making effective and positive change through service to the public and inspiring and motivating his staff. (Continued…)

At least his poor leadership didn't cost you the life of one of your friends, like it did at UCF. Glad to see that I was not the only one who thought of him as a stuffed shirt. (Continued…)

arizona? i hope the guy is just going down there to graze. hopefully if he is in the running for another law enforcement job those hiring him will call the places he has worked and talk to the employees and not the administration so they can get a real insight into how tricky dick works.
